June 2026
Dear Patient,
We have some good news to share, and we want to make sure you hear it directly from us.
Effective January 1, 2027, Salem Family Care wil be joining Pioneer Physicians Network. Drs. Brianne Bagwell, Joseph Rousher, and Michael Sevilla, along with the care team you already know, will continue seeing patients right here, in the same office, with the same commitment to your care.
Pioneer Physicians Network is an independent, physician-owned primary care network based in Northeast Ohio. Like Salem Family Care, Pioneer is not part of a hospital system. It is led and owned by practicing physicians who share the same patient-first values that have guided this practice from the beginning. Joining Pioneer means our physicians will have access to additional clinical, operational, and care coordination resources, the kind of infrastructure that strengthens a practice for the long term with changing what matters most: Your relationship with your doctor.
There is nothing you need to do right now. Please continue scheduling appointments and contacting the office exactly as you always have.
One thing we know patients will ask is about insurance. We are still working through the details of which plans will be accepted under Pioneer Physicians Network, and we will share that information clearly and well in advance of the January 1st, 2027 transition. We do not want anyone to be caught off guard, and we are committed to giving you time to plan if anything changes.
We are grateful for the trust you place in this practice, and we look forward to continuing to care for you and your family.
Sincerely,
Salem Family Care
Frequently Asked Questions
Question: Who is Pioneer Physicians Network?
Answer: Pioneer Physicians Network is a physician-owned independent primary care network based in Northeast Ohio, with 19 sites and more than 85 providers. Like Salem Family Care, Pioneer is not part of a hospital system; it is led and owned by the physicians who practice in it.
Question: Is Salem Family Care closing?
Answer: No. Drs. Bagwell, Rousher, and Sevilla are staying. They are joining Pioneer Physicians Network because they believe it is the right move for the practice and for the patients.
Question: Why is Salem Family Care doing this?
Answer: Running an independent medical practice comes with real administrative and operational challenges. Joining Pioneer gives the physicians access to additional resources and support while staying completely independent from hospital systems. The goal is to protect what patients already value about Salem Family Care and strengthen it for the long term.
Question: Is Pioneer part of a hospital?
Answer: No. Pioneer Physicians Network is physician-owned and independent, not affiliated with any hospital system. Salem Family Care is joining a network of practices that share the same commitment to independent, patient-centered primary care.
Question: Will Pioneer be part of the Salem and Columbiana County community?
Answer: Yes. Pioneer practices across Northeast Ohio are actively involved in communities around them. Team members and physicians particiapte in local health walks, volunteer events, food drives, and fundraisers across multiple counties throughout the year. Joining Pioneer does not change Salem Family Care's roots here. The physicians are staying, the office is staying, and the commitment to this community is staying with them.
Question: Can I keep seeing my current doctor?
Answer: Yes. Nothing about your care relationship is changing. You will continue seeing the same physician, in the same office, on the same schedule.
Question: Do I need to do anything right now?
Answer: No. Please continue scheduling appointments and contacting the office as you normally would. We will reach out when there is anything that you need to know or do.
Question: Will my appointment change?
Answer: No changes to appointments are needed at this time. Keep your scheduled visits and continue booking appointments as usual.
Question: Will the office location or phone number change?
Answer: There are no location or phone number changes being announced at this time. Please continue contacting Salem Family Care as you always have.
Question: What will happen to my medical records?
Answer: Your medical records will remain part of your ongoing care. You do not need to take any action
Question: Will I still be able to use the patient portal?
Answer: Yes. Salem Family Care uses the same electronic records platform as Pioneer Physicians, so most of your patient portal history is expected to carry over. Your existing portal will remain accessible for a period of time after January 1, 2027, though you will need to create a new portal account as a part of the transition in 2027. You will receive clear instructions before anything changes.
Question: What insurance plans will be accepted?
Answer: We are still finalizing insurance details and will share a full update later this year, well before the January 1, 2027 transition. We know this matters, and we are committed to giving you enough time to plan if anything changes.
Question: Should I call my insurance company or Salem Family Care now to see if they will accept my insurance in 2027?
Answer: Not yet. There is nothing to report at this time, and we do not want you to get incomplete information. When details are confirmed, we will communicate them clearly.
Question: What if I have an appointment before January 1, 2027?
Answer: Please keep it. Continue receiving care as usual; nothing changes before the transition date.
Question: What if I have more questions?
Answer: Please contact the Salem Family Care office directly at 330-639-0880. Staff are ready to help, and we will continue sharing updates as they become available.
